Glover Garden

Glover Garden:1

One of the prefecture's leading tourist attractions. Historic buildings scattered across Nagasaki City were relocated to the site of the former residence of a British merchant who came to Nagasaki after the port opened. A symbol of the glamorous lifestyle of foreign settlers and Japan's modernization during the Meiji period, it conveys Japan's early Western-style architecture and the lives and achievements of Western residents. In 2015, the former Glover House was registered as a World Heritage Site as part of the “Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution”  Each area features a light display based on its respective historical background. As the garden is situated on high ground, visitors can also enjoy the Nagasaki night view, one of the “Most Spectacular Night Views in the World.” The garden also contributes to Nagasaki’s night view tourism projects, hosting various seasonal night events in a bid to attract visitors.
